Kalu Rinpoche

When Kalu Rinpoche was fifteen years old, he was sent to begin his higher studies at the monastery of Palpung, the foremost center of the Karma Kagyu school. He remained there for more than a decade, during which time he mastered the vast body of teaching that forms the philosophical basis of Buddhist practice, and completed two three-year retreats.
At about the age of twenty-five, Rinpoche left Palpung to pursue the life of a solitary yogi in the woods of the Khampa countryside. For nearly fifteen years, he strove to perfect his realization of all aspects of the teachings and he became renowned in the villages and among the nomads as a representative of the Bodhisattva path.

How Wonderful to see my Tsawi Lama Ven. Kalu Rinpoche as one of the 'retreat leaders' here! I imagine some people may be confused about this, as this emanation of Kalu Rinpoche's Nirmanakaya Form (physical body) has been gone since the 1980's, however his re-incarnation, Kalu RIMPOCHE (as he spells it on facebook, etc.) has been discovered and is now in his twenties, and does lead dharma talks here and there- perhaps some special dharma-day he shall return to Joshua Tree. One of my most treasured memories in this lifetime is, after taking refuge in the 3 Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha w/Rinpoche in 1977, and 3 years later returning from Naropa Institue in Boulder, CO, i came here to the Mentalphysics Institue to a retreat w/Rinpoche, where we experienced MANY blessings before he came up to give a retreat for the Idyllwild Sangha. First time i was here, since my parents brought me here in 1964! I tune into him eternally, by chanting his Dharma Name: "Karma Rang Jung Kunchab" -=~!~=-
